Invitation to the Belvedere Elders Group
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I hope you are doing well.
As we look toward the future of the Belvedere community, I have
been prayerfully considering how we can strengthen our spiritual
foundation and how we can better draw upon the faith, wisdom, and
experience that already exist within our community.
As part of this effort, I would like to formally establish the
Belvedere Elders Group and respectfully invite you to be part of
it.
Our Vision
The vision of the Elders Group is:
To provide a spiritual foundation of prayer and wisdom for the
Belvedere community and its pastoral leadership.
The Elders Group is not intended to replace the Senior Pastor, nor
will it function as another governing or decision-making body.
Rather, I hope the Elders Group will become a trusted spiritual
foundation that supports Belvedere primarily through two important
responsibilities:
PRAY — Prayer & Spiritual Support
To pray faithfully for:
- The Belvedere community
- The Lead Pastor and leadership
- Our families and members
- Children, youth, young adults, young families, and seniors
- Our ministries and outreach
- Important challenges, decisions, and transitions
- The spiritual growth, unity, and future of Belvedere
I hope that one of the defining precepts of our Elders Group will be:
“Before we discuss, we pray.”
ADVICE — Wisdom & Counsel
I would also like to ask the Elders to share their wisdom and
perspective with me as Lead Pastor when important matters arise.
Your years of faith, Blessed Family life, service, experience with
True Parents, understanding of American culture and the Belvedere
community, and lessons learned through both successes and
challenges are valuable resources for our future.
When appropriate, I may bring important questions or concerns to
the Elders Group and ask for your honest and constructive counsel.
The Elders Group will serve in an advisory role. Final pastoral
responsibility and decisions remain with the Lead Pastor.
My hope is that we can always ask together:
“What is best for the spiritual health and future of the whole
Belvedere community?”
Relationship with Other Teams

Ministry Leaders
Leadership and responsibility for their respective ministries
The Elders Group will therefore not replace the Care Team,
Council, or individual Ministry Leaders. Its unique contribution
will be its prayer, wisdom, experience, and spiritual support.
Meetings
The Elders Group will normally meet once a month.
Additional special meetings may be held when circumstances require
focused prayer or timely counsel.
Our basic meeting rhythm will be:
PRAY → LISTEN → DISCUSS → ADVICE → PRAY
We want our meetings to remain spiritually centered rather than
becoming another administrative or operational meeting.
Members Being Invited
I would like to begin the Elders Group by inviting the following
members and couples:

Advisors
Mr & Mrs Kobayashi are being invited to serve as Advisors to
the Elders Group, providing additional wisdom, spiritual support,
and long-term perspective to both the Elders Group and the Lead
Pastor.
Administrative Coordinators
To support the organization, communication, and continuity of the
Elders Group, the following people will serve as Administrative
Coordinators:
- Peter Reiner
- Hanna Tachiiri
They will assist with meeting schedules, communication, agendas,
prayer topics, necessary records, and follow-up so that the Elders
Group can remain focused on its primary mission of Prayer &
Wisdom.
What I Hope from Each Elder
I am not asking you to take on another heavy administrative
responsibility.
What I hope to receive from you is something deeper:
- Your prayers.
- Your wisdom.
- Your experience.
- Your honest counsel.
- And your heart for the future of Belvedere.
I hope our Elders will practice these simple principles:
- Pray deeply.
- Listen carefully.
- Speak honestly.
- Advise humbly.
- Support unity.
This invitation is not simply an honorary recognition. It is an
invitation to serve together for the spiritual health and future
of our community.
I sincerely hope that the Elders Group can become a strong
spiritual foundation supporting Belvedere as we move toward our
shared vision:
“A Community Every Generation Can Be Proud to Call Home.”
Please prayerfully consider this invitation. I would be very
grateful if you would let me know whether you are willing to serve
as part of the Belvedere Elders Group.

Belvedere
Communityのこれからの歩みを考える中で、私たちの霊的な基盤をどのようにさらに強めていくことができるのか、そしてCommunityの中にすでに蓄積されている信仰、知恵、経験を、これからのBelvedereのためにどのように生かしていくことができるのかを祈りながら考えてきました。
その一環として、このたび正式にBelvedere
Elders Groupを出発させたいと考え、皆様にその一員として参加していただきたく、心からご招待いたします。
私たちのVision
Elders GroupのVisionは、
「Belvedere Communityとその牧会Leadershipを、祈りと知恵によって支える霊的基盤となること」
Elders GroupはSenior
Pastorの代替となる組織ではなく、また新たな統治機関や意思決定機関をつくることを目的としたものでもありません。
Belvedereを主に次の二つの役割によって支える、信頼された霊的基盤となることを願っています。

また、Lead
Pastorとして重要な課題に直面した際には、Eldersの皆様から知恵とPerspectiveをいただきたいと考えています。
皆様が長年の信仰生活、祝福家庭としての歩み、奉仕、True
Parentsとの歩み、American CultureやBelvedere
Communityでの経験、そして成功や困難の中から学んできたことは、Belvedereの未来にとって大切な財産です。
必要に応じて、私からElders
Groupに重要なQuestionやConcernを共有し、率直かつ建設的なAdviceをお願いしたいと思います。
Elders GroupはAdvisory Role（助言する役割）を担います。最終的な牧会上のResponsibilityとDecisionはLead
Pastorが担います。
そして、私たちが常に共に考える中心的な問いを、
“What is best for the spiritual health and future of the whole
Belvedere community?”
「Belvedere Community全体の霊的健全性と未来にとって、何が最善なのか？」
としたいと思います。

「祈り・知恵・経験・霊的支援」
に置きたいと考えています。
Meetingについて
Elders Groupは、原則として月1回Meetingを開催します。
また、重要なPrayerや速やかなAdviceが必要な状況では、必要に応じて臨時Meetingを開催する場合があります。
Meetingの基本的な流れは、
PRAY → LISTEN → DISCUSS → ADVISE → PRAY
祈る → 聞く → 話し合う → 助言する → 祈る
とします。
単なるAdministrative MeetingやOperational
Meetingではなく、常に霊的な目的を中心としたMeetingにしたいと考えています。

皆様に、さらに多くの事務的な責任や大きな負担をお願いしたいということではありません。
私が皆様からいただきたいと願っているものは、もっと本質的なものです。
- 皆様の祈り。
- 皆様の知恵。
- 皆様の経験。
- 皆様の率直な助言。
- そして、Belvedereの未来を思う心です。
Elders Groupでは、次の姿勢を大切にしたいと思います。
